Nicole is crazy for Max. He is sensitive, caring, and his kisses are to die for. But when secrets from her past are revealed will she be found innocent, or is she guilty as charged?

REVIEW:
Romance tends to creep up on us, whether we want it or not, and the magnetism between two people can sometimes blossom into something rewarding beyond sexual gratification. But just as powerful as the forces of attraction, are those of suspicion and misgivings. Sometimes, past wounds can sabotage the possibility of true love, if we let it.

Max Paradis was a rich man. He’d made two fortunes in his life. The first, he gave away, in lieu of letting his ex-wife get her greedy paws on it. The second, he fought for just the same, and had no intention of repeating past mistakes. Nicole Bradford was no exception. Or was she?

Nicole had given up the career of her dreams when the deceit of a lover threatened to destroy the people she cared most about. Charged with the burden of caring for her younger sisters, she’d learned to scrape and fight for everything they needed. Through all her hardships, she’d grown independent and wary of all men. Max seemed almost too good to be true. Perhaps he was.

Guilty As Charged is a charming little story about two people struggling to put aside past hurts to give love another try. Despite the frequent resurgence of her past, it seemed Nicole had an easier time than Max. Just when you think they have it all figured out, Max discovers something about Nicole’s past that threatens to tear them apart forever. Ms. James does a wonderful job of creating characters that you want to root for. Their triumphs will make you smile, and their trails will make you fret. And sometimes, you might just want to reach in there and give Max a hearty thump on the back of his head. Excellent grammar and punctuation usage. No point-of-view violations—at least none I picked up on. This was a heart-warming story and I’d certainly suggest it to my friends.

For a quick read that will give you the warm-fuzzies, grab a copy of Guilty As Charged by Anna James. Her characters are sure to stick with you a while after reaching The End.
